Fresh Eyes, Portfolio Reviews, and a Trip to Amsterdam

My work has been selected for Fresh Eyes, a publication powered by GUP Magazine that presents 100 emerging photography talents from around the world. Being included among emerging photographers is a nice recognition, especially now, as I return to my photography practice after some years away from it.

As part of this, my photograph was also shown in an exhibition in Amsterdam, during the Hungry Eye Fair, from 2 to 6 September 2026, at Kromhouthal, Gedempt Hamerkanaal 231.

While I was there, I had the chance to sit down for portfolio reviews with four generous professionals: Anna Savoaia, Barry Kornbluh, Lara Damiens, and Linda Zhengová. At Hungry Eye Fair, the idea is to give every aspiring photographer the chance to grow — to show your work to people in the field and get honest, personal feedback. That's exactly what I got, and I'm grateful to all four of them for their time and their notes.

‍ ‍

I also got to meet Björn Nilsson (@fodor13) in person, someone I've known through Instagram for a few months, along with other new colleagues from the photography world.

The trip wasn't without its bumps. My flight to Amsterdam was cancelled and rescheduled for evening, which meant I missed the book launch I had planned to attend. Still, I'm very happy I made the trip - the reviews, the exhibition, and the people I met made it worthwhile.

‍ ‍

Thank you to Linda @lindazhengova, Lara @lara_damiens, and Roy @roy_kahmann for making this all possible, and to @hungryeyefair and @gup.magazine for the opportunity.

A note on the trip itself

This trip was made possible with the help of a fundraiser, which is still open. So far it has reached 22% of its goal, and I'm grateful for every bit of support so far. Now that I'm back home, I still need to cover the cost of the trip, so if you're able to contribute even a small amount, or share the fundraiser with others, it would mean a lot. Every bit helps.
