Below you can find interventions into my book - Râsu'-plânsu' (Laughing through tears) made by Jagoda Malanin.

Jagoda Malanin is a visual artist, photographer, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and an alumna of the Sputnik Photos Mentoring Programme, Image Threads and Nikon–NOOR Academy. In 2026 her series Janet wants a yellow mango was selected for Fresh Eyes Talent 2026 by GUP Magazine.

She received 3rd place in the professional still life category at the Sony World Photography Awards 2023 for Cryogenia, presented at Somerset House, Museo Diocesano and Willy Brandt Haus. In 2025 she participated in the exhibition Mine Eyes Bees Deceive at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, curated by Łukasz Rusznica and Kamila Bondar.

Her work has been exhibited and published in Poland and abroad. She is a recipient of the Networks scholarship from the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, and a co-founder of the Hydroza collective. She has published in the Irish magazine Abridged and the Slovenian Membrana, as well in Guest Room by Der Greif, curated by Anna-Alix Koffi. In 2023 she published her author book ” Memoir found in a bathtub”.

She works primarily with photography and ready-made objects, exploring themes of survival, desire, maternity and impossibility.
