This series emerged during the Focus on Monferrato Masterclass in 2008 and was shaped through a creative dialogue with Stanley Greene.

Growing up as an atheist in a predominantly Catholic country, and later living amidst Islamic and Orthodox Christian communities, I found myself fascinated by how religion subtly weaves itself into the fabric of everyday life.

These photographs reflect a personal inquiry into the visible and invisible structures of faith — not as doctrine, but as social force.

I’m interested in the tension between belief as a source of meaning and its use as a tool of control — and in how this paradox unfolds across different cultures.
